Get your Amazon rankings, conversion and margin moving again
Many Chinese brands have sold on Amazon US for a while with a solid product, yet rankings have flattened, ads cost more each quarter and nobody can say clearly what each order actually earns. We look at listings, advertising, reviews, inventory and off-Amazon channels together, find the link that is really holding you back, and fix things in order.
- Best for
- Chinese brands and sellers already on Amazon (mainly the US store) with their own brand or a pending trademark
- Usual channels
- Amazon sponsored ads, listing and A+ work, Brand Registry tools, your own website and Google
- What usually changes first
- Less wasted ad spend on irrelevant search terms, and a clear picture of where listings lose clicks and sales
You may be seeing some of these
Common patterns for Chinese brands that have been live on Amazon for a while.
Ad spend keeps rising, organic orders do not
The budget grows every month, organic rank barely moves, and orders drop the moment ads pause. Often the issue is not the bid but the structure: every product sits in one campaign and many clicks go to search terms that have little to do with the product. Amazon's own best practice is to group products by price range within the same category into ad groups, and to review the search term report regularly 10.
Plenty of views, few purchases
Sessions look healthy but conversion stays low. Amazon's own seller guidance says that high views with low sales is a signal to revisit your images and description 2. English titles and bullets written by a team working in Chinese often read like a spec sheet and miss the questions a US shopper actually has.
Reviews have stalled and you are wary of shortcuts
New products have few reviews and older ones grow slowly. Plenty of services offer paid reviews or refunds for five stars, but these break Amazon policy and are explicitly banned by the rule the US Federal Trade Commission announced in 2024 6. You need a review approach that is both compliant and effective.
A stock-out takes rank and ads down together
Inventory runs out before peak season, or ocean freight is late, and FBA stock hits zero. Amazon's ads guidance is explicit: an advertised product that goes out of stock is paused automatically in your campaign 3. When stock lands again, the momentum you had built usually has to be rebuilt.
Revenue grows, margin is a mystery
Sales look good in Seller Central, yet once referral fees, fulfillment, storage, returns and advertising come off, nobody on the team can quickly say what one order earns. Amazon lists selling plan fees, referral fees, FBA costs and optional service costs as separate fee types 14, and FBA itself covers fulfillment, storage, returns processing and more 13.
The whole business depends on Amazon
Hijackers and copycats appear, and any account issue puts the entire business on edge. Search the brand on Google and there is no official site; on social media there is almost nothing. When a shopper wants to check whether the brand is legitimate, the Amazon listing is the only thing they find.
Why growth stalls on Amazon: how the platform and shoppers work
On Amazon, rank, conversion and margin are not three separate problems. They are one chain. A shopper types a search, sees your main image, title, price and star rating, and decides whether to click. On the product page they look at images, bullets, A+ content and reviews and decide whether to buy. Every click and purchase then feeds back into how the product performs for that search. If one link is weak, every dollar spent further down the chain is partly wasted. The Amazon program names, eligibility thresholds and figures cited below reflect Amazon's own pages as of 2026, and Amazon changes them from time to time.
The listing is the foundation of conversion
Amazon's own advice is specific. The title limit is 200 characters, but Amazon recommends 80 characters or fewer 2. For products you advertise with Sponsored Products, the ads guidance suggests roughly 60 characters so titles are not cut off in ad placements 3. For images it recommends four or more showing different angles, details and use, a plain white background for the main image, the product filling at least 80% of the frame, and enough resolution to zoom 3. Amazon also tells sellers to write original descriptions rather than copying manufacturer content 2. Brands enrolled in Brand Registry can add A+ content with rich modules, comparison charts and brand story. Amazon cites internal data showing A+ content lifts sales by about 5.6% on average 2, and its Brand Registry page quotes higher upper bounds 1. These are Amazon's own figures and they vary widely by category, so we treat them as a sign that A+ is worth doing, not as a promise.
Reviews can only come from real purchases
Reviews carry enormous weight in the buying decision, and they are the most heavily policed part of selling. Amazon says it uses AI to screen reviews for signs of fakery before they publish, sends suspicious ones to trained investigators, and proactively blocked more than 200 million suspected fake reviews in 2022 5. The US Federal Trade Commission announced a final rule in August 2024 that bans buying reviews, paying for reviews with a particular sentiment, undisclosed insider reviews and review suppression, and lets the agency seek civil penalties against knowing violators 6. The compliant way to speed things up is Amazon Vine, where Amazon invites reviewers to try products free of charge and share honest opinions, for FBA products from Brand Registry brands that have few reviews so far 4.
Ads are both a traffic source and a diagnostic tool
Sponsored Products are cost-per-click ads that can appear at the top of, within and alongside search results and on product pages 7. Sponsored Brands are available to brands enrolled in Brand Registry and can send shoppers to a Brand Store or product page with video, image or collection creatives 8. Display ads, formerly Sponsored Display, reach audiences across Amazon properties and beyond 9. The standard efficiency measure is ACoS, advertising cost of sales: ad spend divided by the sales those ads produced 11. It only looks at advertising. Many sellers also track TACoS, total advertising cost of sales: ad spend as a share of all sales, including organic orders, which shows whether ads are lifting the business as a whole. Chase a low ACoS alone and you may cut the campaigns that were building organic rank. Chase revenue alone and margin quietly disappears.
Inventory and margin decide how far growth can go
With FBA, Amazon stores, picks, packs, ships, handles customer service and returns, and products become eligible for Prime delivery 13. FBA costs vary by product and service, covering fulfillment, storage and other charges such as aged inventory, returns processing and removal 13. Running out of stock pauses your ads automatically 3; overstocking brings storage and aged inventory costs. Amazon's own advice is to keep enough stock to meet demand, sync inventory if you sell on several channels, and use the FBA Restock tool, which factors in sales history, demand forecasts and seasonality 2. No one can promise a ranking, but the logic is simple: with a steady replenishment rhythm, ads are not paused by stock-outs, so the momentum that ads and organic sales build is far less likely to break.
How we work
We go in order: understand the problem first, then change things. Each step hands you a concrete output to review before the next one starts.
- 01
Account and margin health check
We start by reviewing your products, ads, inventory and fee structure with you, breaking down each ASIN's sales: how much is organic, how much comes from ads, and how much room is left after platform fees and advertising. We mark which products carry the business and which drain the budget. Nothing needs to change in this step.
OutputA per-ASIN diagnosis and a clear order of which products to fix first
- 02
Keyword and shopper research
If your brand is in Brand Registry, we use the Search Terms and Search Query Performance dashboards in Brand Analytics to see which searches find you and which bring impressions without purchases 12. We combine that with competitor listings and their reviews to map what US shoppers care about, worry about and misunderstand. The research feeds both the listing rewrite and the ad structure.
OutputA grouped keyword map and a list of shopper concerns, marking which terms belong in titles and which in ads
- 03
Listing and A+ rebuild
We rewrite titles, bullets and descriptions following Amazon's guidance, in plain, natural English that explains use, size and differences the way US shoppers think about them, rather than repeating the factory spec sheet 23. Images are replanned around main image, details, use, size comparison and what is in the box; for registered brands the plan also covers the content structure of A+ modules and comparison charts 1. Changes go live in batches so before-and-after data stays readable.
OutputNew titles, bullets, descriptions, an image plan and an A+ content plan
- 04
Ad structure rebuild
We split campaigns by product and goal, then group products by price range within the same category into ad groups 10. Automatic campaigns discover new search terms; manual campaigns focus on proven terms; strong search terms move to exact match and wasted ones become negatives 10. For registered brands we add Sponsored Brands to defend brand searches and send traffic to the Brand Store 8. Every campaign has a clear job instead of everything sharing one pot.
OutputA new campaign architecture, a negative keyword list and rules for regular optimization
- 05
Reviews, inventory and margin rhythm
For reviews we use compliant methods only: eligible new products go into Vine 4, the rest rely on real orders and Amazon's own review request tools, never refund-for-review or paid review services 6. For inventory we compare sales data with your production and shipping plan and flag stock-out risks ahead of peak season and big events, so ads are not paused by a stock-out 3. For margin we review ACoS and ad spend as a share of total sales every month and cut what does not pay.
OutputA review plan, stock-out risk flags and a monthly margin and ad efficiency review
- 06
A brand presence beyond Amazon
We help you build a brand website, a Google search presence and basic social channels, so a shopper who searches your brand finds a credible official site. Amazon sales driven by off-Amazon marketing can be measured with Amazon Attribution 15, and website orders can ship from your existing FBA stock through Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment 16. You stay on Amazon without depending on it completely.
OutputAn off-Amazon channel plan, a build plan for your site and Google, and cross-channel tracking
How our approach differs
Most sellers do not lack effort. What they lack is effort applied in the right order.
| Topic | The usual approach | How Clickto does it |
|---|---|---|
| Titles and copy | Every keyword crammed into the title; bullets translated straight from the factory spec sheet | Title length follows Amazon's guidance 2; copy in natural, plain English answers real shopper questions |
| Ad structure | One campaign holds every product; only bids get adjusted and the search term report goes unread | Ad groups split by price range within the same category; automatic for discovery, manual for proven terms, negatives cleaned up continuously 10 |
| Measuring ads | ACoS is the only number; if it looks good the campaign is a success | ACoS for ad efficiency 11, plus ad spend as a share of total sales and per-order margin |
| Reviews | Review groups, refunds for five stars, or simply ignoring the problem | Vine and Amazon's own request tools only 4; nothing the FTC rule prohibits 6 |
| Inventory | Restock after selling out; peak season planning starts too late | Sales data checked against your production plan, with early stock-out flags so ads are not paused 3 |
| Off-Amazon channels | The whole business rides on Amazon; the brand is invisible on Google | A brand site and Google presence, with off-Amazon traffic measured through Attribution 15 |

Questions
We do not have a trademark yet. Can we still do this?
Yes, but with fewer tools. Brand Registry requires a registered or pending trademark from a trademark office in a country with an Amazon store 1. Without it you cannot use A+, Sponsored Brands, Brand Analytics or Vine 14812. The usual advice is to file a US trademark application early and starting with listings and Sponsored Products in the meantime.
Can you get us reviews quickly?
Not by any method that breaks the rules. Refunds for reviews, review groups and free products in exchange for reviews all violate Amazon policy, and the FTC rule announced in 2024 bans paying for reviews with a particular sentiment and allows civil penalties 6. Amazon screens for this with AI and human investigators before reviews go live 5. The compliant route is enrolling eligible new products in Vine (the brand must be in Brand Registry, and the offer must be FBA with fewer than 30 reviews) 4 and getting the product and after-sales right so real buyers want to review.
What is a reasonable ACoS?
There is no single number that works for every product. ACoS is ad spend divided by the sales those ads generated 11, and the right range depends on your margin, the product's stage and the goal of the campaign. A launch can tolerate a higher ACoS to build sales history; a mature product should be judged more on profit. We work out the ceiling each product can afford from your cost structure, and we watch ad spend as a share of total sales alongside it.
Our rank dropped after a stock-out. Can it recover?
Usually yes, but it takes time and a plan. Ads are paused automatically while a product is out of stock 3, so the momentum stops. When stock lands we restart ads in stages, starting with the best-converting terms, and check whether the listing was hijacked or changed in the meantime. The bigger win is not running out again, so restock alerts become part of the monthly routine.
Will Clickto suggest we leave Amazon?
No. For most consumer brands Amazon remains the most important sales channel. What we add is a website, Google presence and social channels outside Amazon, so the brand owns a home base and a way to reach customers. Amazon sales driven from outside can be measured with Amazon Attribution 15, and website orders can be fulfilled from the units already sitting in FBA through Multi-Channel Fulfillment 16, which keeps all your inventory in one place while the site is still young.
Can we show our Amazon reviews on our own website?
Pointing visitors to your Amazon product page, where those reviews were written, is fine. What you should not do is republish Amazon ratings and reviews on your site as if the site had earned them. Google's structured data guidelines state plainly that you should not aggregate reviews or ratings from other websites 17. Your site should collect its own reviews from the first order.
When would Clickto need Seller Central access?
Not for the free diagnosis; we only look at public listings, search results and brand information. Once work starts, changing ads and listings requires appropriate Seller Central and Ads console permissions. We recommend granting them through Seller Central's user permissions, scoped to the task, rather than sharing the main login, and keeping the primary account and payment details in your company's name.
How long before the changes show up in the data?
Obvious waste in your ads can usually be cleaned up in the first few weeks after the restructure, and it shows in the reports. Conversion changes from new listings and A+ need some weeks of data before they can be judged. Organic rank depends heavily on competition, season and stock, so we do not promise a rank or a date. What we do promise is a clear monthly account of what we did, how the data moved and what comes next.
