Can AI search engines read your website?

Enter your website. We check the 8 technical basics AI search engines and assistants rely on when they read your site, and return a score out of 100, evidence URLs and the three fixes worth doing first.

This measures technical readiness, not your actual exposure in ChatGPT or other AI tools. We read public pages only; no account access is needed.

The 8 scored checks and what each is worth

  4. 15Company identity, services and contact
  5. 10Home page indexable

  8. 5Canonical URLs

What we check, and what each is worth

The checker reads only public pages: your home page, robots.txt, sitemap, llms.txt, and up to three contact, about and product pages linked from the home page.

  1. 20 points

    AI search crawler access

Whether robots.txt lets Googlebot, Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Claude-SearchBot fetch your home page.

  2. 15 points

    Content readable without JavaScript

How much visible text is in the home page HTML. Many AI crawlers read raw HTML and may not run JavaScript.

  3. 15 points

    Structured data

Whether valid JSON-LD is present, including an Organization-type entity that identifies the company.

  4. 15 points

    Company identity, services and contact

Company name, an about page, a contact page, a visible email or phone, and a link to products or services.

  5. 10 points

    Home page indexable

Whether the site uses HTTPS and whether the home page is marked noindex.

  6. 10 points

    Sitemap

Whether a sitemap declared in robots.txt, or at the usual location, exists and lists URLs.

  7. 10 points

    Titles, descriptions and headings

Whether each page checked has a title, a meta description and an H1.

  8. 5 points

    Canonical URLs

Whether pages declare a rel="canonical" URL on the same site.

  9. Not scored

    For information, not scored

Whether AI training crawlers are blocked, and whether llms.txt exists. How your firewall treats the real AI crawlers cannot be tested from outside and is marked Not verified.

The score counts only checks we could verify. Anything that timed out or was blocked is marked Not verified and left out of the score, not counted as a failure.

Questions

Does a high score mean ChatGPT will recommend us?

No. This check covers the technical basics: whether AI systems can reach and understand your site. Whether an answer mentions you also depends on your content, third-party information and the question asked, which this tool does not measure.

How long does it take

Usually 10 to 30 seconds. One check reads at most about a dozen public URLs, similar to a visitor browsing a few pages. It submits no forms and needs no login.

Why do some items show Not verified?

Anything that timed out, was blocked by a firewall, or cannot be tested from outside is marked Not verified. These are left out of the score because an uncertain result should not count as a failure.

Can we run it again for the same site?

Results for a domain are reused for 24 hours. After you change your site, run it again the next day to see the difference.

Do we need llms.txt?

It is not required. llms.txt is a proposed format that major AI search engines do not currently rely on, so we list it for information only and do not score it.
